INDIANA COUNCIL OF NAIW NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INSURANCE WOMEN

(NTERNATIONAL)

September 29, 2007

 

Gere Pharm, LUTCF, CPIW introduced everyone.

 

Betty Boling spoke on Breast Cancer Awareness; Hope, Courage, Faith, and Strength.

 

Linda Swanson, CPIW, AIS, ACSR, DAE welcomed all members.  She is happy to have everyone and hopes everyone will enjoy themselves.

 

Jeff from Das Dutchman Essenhaus reviewed the inns mission statement and values and presented a layout of the conference center.  He also spoke about the restaurant-catering, Miniature Golf and Carriage Rides, Inn and Conference Center, Village Shops and Essenhaus manufacturing of noodles.

 

Meeting 9:20 called to order by IN Council Director Tish Scott. 

 

Linda Swanson, CPIW, AIS, ACSR, DAE read the collect. 

 

Pat Johnson sent an e-mail expressing her regret as she is unable to attend today’s meeting.  Busy, busy. Busy.  Vicki was also unable to attend. 

 

Billie Zimmerman Credential Chair reported 5 Associations, with a voting strength of 5. 

 

Ann Gajewski, CIC, AU, CPIW conducted CWC.  Tina Dean, IPWV and Miriam Rich, IAIW competed in CWC to represent IN Council at our Regional Conference.  Congratulations to both ladies on their presentations.  Miriam Rich, IAIW will represent IN Council at our Regional Conference.

 

Billie Zimmerman updated the Credentials to 6 Associations with a voting strength of 6.

 

Jackie Lindquist, CPCU, AIS, CISR, CPIW, DAE spoke on the ISFA (Insurance Scholarship Foundations Association) and the insurance related courses or designations.  Information can be located at www.inssfa.org.  Jackie recognized the following associations and members who have contributed to the fund:  Indianapolis, Tippewa, Ft. Wayne, Taffy Troup & Jackie Lindquist.  We collected $207 in donations for ISFA from the IN Council members who attend our meeting. 

 

Sharon Jude, CIC, CPSR, CPIW introduced smencils as fundraiser.  100% recycled paper, scented pencil offered for $2 each or 2/$3.

 

 Pam Randol talked about Big I and signing up to work the registration table.  She also discussed membership, publicity, distributing flyers and using questionnaires to follow up on visitors. 

Guest speaker, Jason Faulstich  from Indiana State Police spoke on Meth and the affect it has on the insurance industry.

 

Sarah McCammon, CPIW, Awards Chair presented individual and association awards at the Awards Luncheon.  Candidates for Insurance Professional of the Year were LuAnn Baldoni, CPIW, IACSR from SBMAIW, Tina Dean from IPWV, Taffy Troup, AIS, CPIW, DAE from IWAFW with the award presented to Taffy Troup, AIS, CPIW, DAE for Insurance Professional of the Year.  Candidates for Claims Professional of the year were Linda Berry, CPIW from IPVW and Paige Plitz, AIC, AIS from IAIW with the award presented to Paige Plitz, AIC, AIS for Claims Professional of the Year.  Candidates for Rookie of the Year were Amanda Lair from IPWV and Debra Craig, AICSR from IPWV with the award presented to Debra Craig, IACSR for Rookie of the Year.  Membership award entries were submitted from IPWV, IWAFW and TAIW with the award being presented to Tippewa (TAIW).  Education award entries were submitted from IPWV, IWAFW, and TAIW with the award being presented to the Wabash Valley (IPWV).  Legislative award entries were submitted from IPWV and IWAFW with the award being presented to Indianapolis (IWAFW).

 

Karen Steph, CPIW, DAE, ACSR, CPIA, By-laws Chair requested a vote on the Standing Rules.  By-law changes from state to council, 6 in favor, amendment adopted.  #5 Secretary elected position, changes to secretary/treasure, audit custodian of the funds, majority vote of 6, adopted.  Editorial changes to 8A1, majority vote of 6, adopted.

 

Jackie Lindquist, CPCU, AIS, CISR, CPIW, DAE Nominating Committee Chair conducted elections submitting the following candidates:  2008-2009 Public Relations Chair Sharon Jude, CIC, CPSR, CPIW; Membership Chair Tish Scott; Delegate Virginia Axson; and Alternate Delegate Sarah McCammon, CPIW.

 

Sue Shaw, CPIW, Region IV Vice President of NAIW installed IN Council Officers.

 

Sue Shaw, CPIW, Region IV Vice President of NAIW discussed changes already in force and changes recommended for the near future from National, including National Conventions to be held in a 3 city rotation, which she encourages local associations to review and send recommendations to her. 

 

Tish Scott talked about making a difference (mentoring) and her child Kyran Jackson from Kids Hope USA.
